Using heparin tube for clinical chemistry, an application of evacuated blood collection system

V Wiwanitkit

Abstract

Heparin is a common blood anticoaulant. The heparinized vacuum tube is an application of the evacuated blood collection system. Using the vacuum heparinized tubes can bring similar results compared to the routine plain tubes for clinical chemistry laboratory. It can decrease the turnaround time of the tests. However, due to its high cost, it seem suitable for the laboratories with high workloads only.
